I generally liked it. It is never easy to adapt a book to movie form, however I think they did a good job. I felt that the battle scenes were a little dragged out. My best advice would be to read the book first. You will get a better understanding of the movie that way. And it's true the book is always better!

I have to adite it was not what I excpeted.Though the movie was good( I could care less for the scene were the dwarf shows the Hager and werewolf to Prince Caspian and they preform "magic".) though the movie was good it is not a movie for younger children.

Susan's character was in general wasted, her one large role in the movie seemed to be to provide a romantic interest for Prince Caspian, something that was never even hinted at in the book. And, since Prince Caspian will eventually marry later on, I think that was a waste of screen time that could have been used developing the character.
Peter was the high king, and he's come back after all this time to a different land and he's confused and a feeling a little underappreciated, but instead of letting him struggle with that and accept his responsibility and contribute, they have him picking fights, and causing serious and fatal accidents brought on by arrogance, only to have him and Caspian "make up" at the end.
The minor characters and Aslan himself were beautifully done, and give me hope for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The plot lacked even loose alliance with that in the book. Overall, I'd say read the books! Understand what your seeing!

I was actually more dissapointed by Prince Caspian than I was by it's predecessor The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. There are parts of this review that I thoroughly agree with, and even after seeing it, I would see it again, and I will go see the next one. However, I personally feel like the moviemakers commited several terrible blunders.
The characters of Edmund and Lucy reappeared better than ever. Their relationship as siblings was stronger and better defined, and I think Edmund has really come into his own as a character. Lucy was done beautifully, I wouldn't even request any changes if I had the opportunity.
One the other hand, I think Peter and Susan left much to be desired the second time around. As those that have read the books are aware, this is to be their last time in Narnia, so this was the time to really give those characters a good send off and allow them to grow and accomplish the mission that was laid out for them by Aslan.(continued)

I'm sure I would have enjoyed the movie if I could have stayed to watch it. My 8-year-old daughter could not handle the constant violence. She asked to leave. I was expecting a violent battle scene in the end, but not constant violence. We left after 45 minutes. Not a movie for sensitive young children.

Dreadful waste of 147 minutes. Colourless characters, pedestrian fight scenes, predictable CGI and dreadful directing.

There seemed to be a complete lack of magic that existed in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I felt like I spent a significant portion of the movie trapped in a box. The details were dark, and little if any effort was placed into executing decent special effects. The actors, with the exception of Edmund and Lucy seemed disinterested in portraying anything but a flat performance.

Please don't make any more of these. Better to read these fantastic books and get great moving pictures in your mind.

I agree that this is a very good film. Frankly, I enjoyed the first film, particularly Lucy's character. Prince Caspian is well done with good action scenes and character development.

However, it is not at all true to the book. The basic story is there, but the lessons learned in the book are left out. Aslan is much more prominent in the book, as each Pevensie child goes through their own faith journey and becomes able to see Aslan.
Also, the whole bit about Caspian and Peter being tempted to free the White Witch, hence using evil to help them achieve good, was really far off base. That idea was nipped in the bud quickly in the book.

Amen!

I could never fully put my finger on why the first film never impressed me. But "Prince Caspian" felt completely real. As if everything happened really happened; the characters came so alive and were thoroughly embraced by the actors.

I was especially impressed with Ben Barnes sympathetic portrayal of Caspian, a role perfectly written and suited him perfectly. A gentle prince, understanding and kind towards others, he was forced into a battle for the right reasons.

A gorgeous film on every level, this movie completely embodies "Narnia." That being said, please do not assume "Prince Caspian" is child friendly. Kids ten and older can probably handle the emotional strain, but don't bring your munchkins. Not unless you want them dealing with serious nightmares. This is a war movie, as it is in the book.

I completely agree with the reviewer. Bravo for taking a serious look at both this film and its predecessor. Hail Aslan!

"Prince Caspian" is the exact opposite of the Narnia we've been waiting for, and this review has done nothing to alter that belief. "Prince Caspian" deviated from C.S. Lewis' novel to its undoing, not it's redemption. Aslan's part in the movie was sorely diminished, and most of the meaningful lines from the book were either diluted or left out. The film relied almost entirely on visual effects and repetitive battle sequences and lacks in character development and dialogue. This movie should have been more faithful to the book. Taken by itself the movie is above average, but it nearly fails as a cinematic version of a book. Maybe this is the Narnia some people were waiting for, but I was sorely disappointed. If the next one is this much of a letdown, I just won't go.
