Adventure Doesn’t Get Much Bigger Than
Kong
A spectacular monster movie that gives you everything you're looking for: shocks, laughs, and thrills, all impressively rendered on a huge big budget scale. Some scares really push the PG-13 limits, as does brief strong language, but this is a well-crafted thrill ride interested in pushing only one agenda: fun (even the post-credits bonus sequence is worth waiting around for). 4 out of 5.

Falls on the Flimsy Side
Some furniture is sturdy, built to last. Cheap furniture is designed for the short term until something more substantial comes along. The paper-thin Table 19 is that second kind of barely-qualified placeholder in the movie calendar, with only enough basic elements to keep it from collapsing in on itself. There are hints of meaningful ideas, but none developed enough to actually give this film legs. 2 out of 5.

While far from legendary, Rock Dog still delivers an unexpectedly fun story with enough music, laughs, and talented voice acting to pass a lazy afternoon. If you were disappointed by Sing, and thought Zootopia was too intense, Rock Dog is the movie for you. 2.5 out of 5.

The story of how Ray Kroc took a small walk-up hamburger stand and turned it into the McDonald's we know is fascinating. Keaton’s performance is outstanding and the visuals are terrific (golden arches!). But Happy Meals don't mean happy endings; this tale of unbridled greed may leave a bad taste not even crispy fries can take away.
