It is true that as people we are finite and fallen. We cannot, this side of the resurrection, be perfectly holy. Sin will cling to every act and every affection. We have to be aware of that. However, the Bible does talk about God’s people being holy. And not only in the sense of our justification. 

Forgiveness is not holding someone's sins against them in terms of creating distance or enmity in my relationship with them. The great paradigm example of forgiveness is God himself, who says in Jeremiah 31 that, "I will remember their sins and iniquities no more." What that means is not that God is going to forfeit his omniscience, but that God will not hold our sins against us.

Absolutely not, and here's why: Because salvation is not of works. We're not saved by works, nor are we kept by works, and the gospel not only saves us, but the gospel of Christ secures us.
