If converting to metric, use the volume amount when the U.S. measurement is given by volume (teaspoon, tablespoon, cup) and use the weight equivalent when the U.S. measurement is given by weight (ounce, pound).

  • Ounces to grams — multiply ounces by 28.35
  • Pounds to grams — multiply pounds by 453.5
  • Pounds to kilograms — multiply pounds by .45
  • Cups to liters — multiply cups by .24
  • Fahrenheit to centigrade — subtract 32 from Fahrenheit temperature, multiply by 5, then divide by 9
