Seize the Day!

Jesus said, "No procrastination. No backward looks. You can't put God's kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day."
Luke 9:62, The Message
The word seize means to take control of, take possession of, apprehend, take into custody, and capture. This means that we have to on purpose set our minds on things above where Jesus is seated (Colossians 3:1) and not allow the enemy to have any place in us. We have been given power and authority over the enemy, but it is up to us to use it effectively.
So how do you we seize the day? Well we start by submitting ourselves fully to God. The Bible says that if we submit ourselves to God and resist the enemy, he (satan) will flee (James 4:7). The problem arises when we become complacent and think that we have the ability on our own to resist the enemy. We must be on guard against putting our spiritual lives into neutral and stay strong in the Lord and the power of His might.
Seizing the day isn't something that happens automatically. It comes as we consciously give ourselves fully to God's plans and purposes for us. Seizing the day is deciding every day that you will look for ways to expand God's Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Seizing the day means holding fast to your confession of faith and honoring the commitments you have made to God and to man. Seizing your day means that you won't allow satan's weapons of doubt, fear, discouragement and unbelief to penetrate your mind and rob you of the peace and joy God has for you.
The love of God has been shed in hearts so that we can have life to the full until it overflows. As you seize the days of your life and determine to live them for God alone, the overflow of your life will bring peace and joy to others. So take this day and surrender it fully to God. Allow His Spirit to lead, guide and direct your path. Capture the opportunities that you have with others to be a witness of God's goodness in your life and seize this day for the Kingdom purposes of God through you.
Dear Lord help me to seize this day and bring it into alignment for Your purposes. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in and through my life today. All that I am and all that I'm not I give you to accomplish Your plans in me. In Jesus Name, Amen!
