Date Night does not have to be elaborate to enable the space you need to connect! My husband and I love to cozy up together after all the kids are in bed and relax with an easy-to-watch Date Night movie! On these “at home dates” we usually plan ahead and make sure we have hidden away a “Mom and Dad only” special treat for us to split on the couch.
Once all the kids are tucked away in bed then is the time to bring out our special snacks and turn on a flick to enjoy together, just the two of us. This time to chill, not think too hard about life, and snuggle up a bit is a great way for us to connect when getting out of the house alone together is not in the cards.
Here are a few fun and easy movies for you to add to your Date Night movie list!
1. A Funny and Inspirational Story

It doesn’t take long for Fay to be discovered and Ray has to fight for the right to continue to care for his brother while remaining part of the Clemson team. Safety is available to stream on Disney Plus and I promise you will fall in love with Ray and Fay.
3. A Movie for the Star Wars Lover
Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens (PG-13, 2015)
Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens delivers all the action and all the classic Star Wars heroes that you know and love! The story takes place in a familiar galaxy far far away, about 30 years after The Return of the Jedi.
Luke Skywalker, the last surviving Jedi, has gone into hiding, allowing the Empire's remaining sympathizers to grow into a military force called the First Order, led by the masked Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson).
The First Order captures the resistance's pilot, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), in an effort to secure a secret map to locate Skywalker. In a surprise turn of events, rogue stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega) helps Poe escape. Finn ends up teaming with a skilled young scavenger, Rey (Daisy Ridley) who is protecting Poe's droid, BB-8.

Just Mercy is a powerful move that tell the true-story of a young lawyer named Bryan Stevenson (Micheal B. Jordan) who relentlessly is battling for justice. Byran begins working in Alabama to defend those who have been wrongly accused.
The movie tells the story of Walter McMillian (Foxx) who was sentenced to die for the murder of a young girl, despite significant evidence proving his innocence. This movie will stir your heart as it shares true and heartbreaking stories of injustice. Have your tissues ready for this Date Night!

6. An Original Romantic Comedy
Always Be My Maybe (PG-13, 2019)
Always Be My Maybe is one of the cutest romantic comedies we have come across in recent years! While there is romance, thankfully the movie keeps things PG-13 (which is something that most Netflix movies do not do well at).
The story follows childhood friends Sasha and Marcus who haven’t spoken for 15 years but when Sasha, now a celebrity chef, comes back into town they reconnect. The movie is full of laugh-out-loud scenes. It is easy to watch and can be streamed on Netflix.
7. Get Hooked on Marvel
The Avengers (PG-13, 2012)
Get hooked on the Marvel franchise by starting with The Avengers! These movies are full of action, adventure, and are sure to have you hooked by the end.
In the movie, Nick Fury is the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is an international peace-keeping agency. The agency is filled with Marvel Super Heroes that include Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. They ban together to save the world when Loki and his team become a threat. Get ready and enjoy a little adventure together!
8. A Comic Book Hero
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2019, PG)
Once you start diving into the Marvel series, there are so many options! Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse is an action packed Marvel adventure that keeps things pretty clean! Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse is about a Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, who transforms into Spider-Man and becomes acquainted with other Spider-people from other universes.
The movie is packed with action but the fighting is mostly cartoonish, making this movie a little less intense than some of the other Marvel options. Some of the highlights of this selection are diverse characters, positive messages about courage, responsibility, loyalty, working together, and sticking with something. Enjoy this positive adventure together on your next date night.
Date Night movies are a great budget-friendly way to make a night home together a little more special. I always look forward to curling up with my sweet husband for a break on the couch.
Hopefully these movies inspire you to set aside some time to relax, connect, and enjoy being entertained with your significant other. Date Nights help keep you close, especially when lives get full.
