Believing in the Impossible – Beloved Women – April 21, 2020
READ: “And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” (Luke 1:34 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: In Luke 1:26-37, the angel Gabriel appears to Mary, the mother of Jesus, with an impossible declaration: she is to have a son, but she is a virgin. Initially, Mary is perplexed and is in disbelief about the blessing that is before her. In Luke 1:34, Mary asks, “How will this be?” since I am a virgin?” It is fine to question God, but recognize that you will not have all the answers. Ultimately, Mary’s shock and disbelief turned into an uncontrollable praise. In Luke 1:49, she states, “for the mighty one has done great things for me-holy is his name.” Mary turned her disbelief into praise.
Our assignment is to continue to praise God and be faithful, and let God work out the details. Believing in the impossible is easier said than done, but it is the foundation of building our faith.
Today, I encourage and invite you to praise God for the impossible thing that God is doing in your life. Praise God for the miracles and wonders that are manifesting before your eyes, and share your testimony with others.
PRAY: Dear God, thank You for being a present, faithful God in my life. Thank You for intervening and blessing me with situations that seem impossible in my own eyes. Help me to praise You continuously for the ways You are working on my behalf. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: What is one situation that you can praise God for today that seemed impossible?
SHARE: Believing in the impossible is easier said than done, but it is the foundation of building our faith.
