Fully Persuaded – Beloved Women – October 13, 2020
READ: “In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, ‘So shall your offspring be.’ (Romans 4:18 ESV)
What do you do when God makes a promise to you, but it hasn’t been fulfilled yet?
Most of us don’t enjoy waiting and we may lose hope in the process.
Abraham was at a crossroads. God called Abraham to leave his country and family for a land that he would show him. He also promised to bless Abraham and make him the father of many nations (Genesis 12:2). But Abraham was getting older and God’s promise had not come to pass.
One day, God told Abraham in a vision, not to be afraid, and that he was his shield and great reward. Abraham responded, what good are your blessings when I don’t even have a son? And my servant Eliezer will inherit all my wealth (Genesis 15:2). God assured Abraham that he would have a son who will be his heir. Then he told Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars.
Abraham believed and God declared him righteous because of his faith. Like Abraham, maybe you are waiting on God for a child or a turnaround in your financial situation. God is faithful to His promises. When we have confidence in God’s promises, He will honor our unwavering faith at the appointed time.
PRAY: Lord, waiting is hard. Help me be fully persuaded that You are worthy of my trust. Thank you for fulfilling Your promises to me at the right time. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: What promises has God made to you? How can you show your faith while waiting?
