Healing Us to Wholeness

Today’s Special is: Jehovah Rapha-the God Who Heals

Main Ingredient:

He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you."

Entrée:

The prayer request came through our e-mail, and what I read saddened me. This sweet friend needing prayer had just said good-bye to her husband after his long illness, and now she was facing a biopsy. She had two boys to care for. I knew she must be scared and unsettled by the unknown. She even told me that the "what if's" had started to form in her head if the biopsy came back positive (which actually means something negative is happening in our body. The medical field can be a little confusing.)

Over the course of weeks, I prayed she would be healed, that she would have peace and that the Lord would just touch her body as she had already been through so much. I mostly just asked for wholeness and healing for her. I trusted that He is the God who heals, and I asked Him to do that for my friend, no matter what His healing looked like.

Many weeks later, I texted and asked how things had gone with the biopsy. An immediate response came back from her that when they scanned her again to find the site to biopsy, the area of concern was gone! It was completely gone, and there was nothing to biopsy! Tears were flowing as I texted her back and just said, "Praise Jesus!!"

Jehovah Rapha, is the God Who Heals. He heals in many different ways and sometimes in ways we don't understand. Sometimes it's like with my friend who is healed in a miraculous way. Other times Jehovah Rapha heals through medical means and physicians. Sometimes He takes us home to Heaven and makes us whole.

Putting our trust in Jehovah Rapha as we allow Him to heal us may not be easy, but it is necessary. He longs to fulfill that part of his character and be The God Who Heals!

Take Out:

Being in prayer when asking the Lord for healing is necessary, but we also need to trust Him as our Healer. Remember, too, healing is more than physical. The Lord cares about our emotional health, mental health and certainly our spiritual health. As we trust Him to heal us, we can take Him our concerns, doubts and fears in prayer about whatever we are facing. He is the Healer and He will handle it for us. Don't think that your fear or uncertainty is too much for Him! He will take that burden off you and bring you to wholeness.

Dessert:

Father God, many of us need healing. I need healing for past hurts, random physical pains that I allow to waylay my days and Spiritual healing for various reasons. I reach up to You to receive this healing so that I may be whole and that I may be able to then minister to others in a way that brings You fullness of glory. How wonderful to be able to worship You without stain or blemish and to be totally healed. Show others Your healing power so that they may also be healed and walk in wholeness. In the precious name of Jesus. Amen!
