Jesus Is The Light

Café Menu for Thursday, December 18, 2014

Today’s Special isIt’s Christmas, So Let Your Light Shine

Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Carolyn Dale Newell

Main Ingredient:

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

John 8:12 NKJV

Entrée:

The Cape Hatteras lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in the United States. It stands 198 ½ feet tall, with 269 steps to the top. Its light extends 20 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean. As magnificent as this sounds, there is a light that reaches the entire world – Jesus Christ.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

John 1:4-5 NKJV

In Scripture, light is a symbol of truth, purity and godliness, while the darkness symbolizes error, evil, and sin. Jesus came into this world as the light that conquers the darkness of sin.

As you celebrate Christmas, think of Jesus every time you see the Christmas lights. Do not only think of Him as a baby born in a manger, but as your Savior. Think about one more thing whenever you see Christmas lights this year. We, as Christians, have the responsibility to tell others about Christ. We are also lights.Jesus said,

You are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14, 16 NKJV

Christmas is a wonderful time to share the light of Christ with the world.Show your good works by doing something for someone that you may not even know, or someone who really has a need that you could meet. You may be the only way that they see Jesus.Your act of kindness will also bring glory to your Heavenly Father.

Don’t let your Christmas tree or your house outshine you this year.Let your light shine!

Take Out:

It is important for us to remember that we are celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It is so easy to get caught up in the Christmas rush and lose the true meaning of Christmas.

Let your light shine this season.

Remind others why we celebrate Christmas.

Shower others with the light of Christ in your kind words and good deeds. Shine for Jesus!

Dessert:

Dear Lord, thank You for this special time when we celebrate Your birth. Help me to be a light in a dark world this season. Thank You! In the name of my Savior I pray, Amen.
