Hands-on Faith for Families – Week of April 4, 2016
Theme: We Live in God’s Creation
God’s Handiwork
Scripture: “Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.” (Psalm 104:1, 2).
Play: Go for a walk. Find the differences between the tree trunks you pass. If the trees have leaves on them, collect several. Make leaf or trunk rubbings by placing a blank sheet of paper on the trunk or the vein side of the leaf. Rub the side of a crayon over the paper.
Talk: God intricately designed large and small things, such as tree trunks and leaves. Psalm 104 lists many of the wonderful things He made — clouds, mountains and valleys. He provided rivers and waters so animals can drink. He formed trees where birds can build nests. He filled seas with magnificent creatures from the smallest plankton to the largest whale. When we see the workings of His amazing creation around us, we realize that God cares about His handiwork. In what ways does God’s creation show Him as an artist? How does it show Him as an engineer?
Pray: Thank God for His creation and ask Him to help you see the beauty and design of what He has made.
