Devotions – Remember God’s Word
Hands-on Faith for Families – week of April 20, 2020
Theme: Keep Our Eyes on God
Remember God’s Word
Scripture: Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:8)
Play: Say, “I’m going to the store to buy apples.” The next person says the same but adds something that starts with the letter b. Each person repeats the entire list, adding one more item in alphabetical order.
Talk: Remembering things can be difficult. One way the game helped us remember the added items was that each person repeated the list. When we say things lots of times, that helps us remember. Joshua 1:8 tells us God wants us to remember His Word, too. Thinking about the Bible, talking about what it says and singing about the Scriptures help us to remember. What is your favorite Bible verse? What does it say about God or how to live our lives?
Pray: Thank God for His Word, and ask Him to help you remember what He has said.
