Hands-On Faith - Week of December 28, 2015
Hands-on Faith for Families – week of December 28, 2015
Theme: The Season of Giving
Bear One Another’s Burdens
Scripture: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2) ESV.
Play: Let’s pretend we’re going on a hiking trip. What would you pack in your backpack? Go through the alphabet, with each person adding a new hiking- or camping-related item to the pack. Play continues until all letters of the alphabet have been used.
Talk: If we really packed everything mentioned in the game, that would be a very heavy pack! Sometimes in life, we have heavy things to carry. The Bible calls them burdens. Sometimes our burdens are physical, and sometimes they are emotional, such as sadness and anger. God wants us to help one another bear our burdens. By doing so, we fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2). What are some ways we can help carry someone else’s burdens?
Pray: Pray that God will give you compassion for those carrying burdens and provide a way for you to share their load.
