Hands-On Faith – Week of October 1, 2018
Hands-on Faith for Families– week of October 1, 2018
Theme:Honor God with What He Gives You
Good Stewardship of All Living Things
Scripture:And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:28 ESV)
Play:Have each person choose an unusual pet (lion, koala, giraffe, flamingo, whale, etc.) and draw it. Then tell a story about caring for it. Where will it sleep? What will it eat? How will you give it a bath?
Talk:After God created everything, He made Adam and Eve stewards over His creation. That means they needed to take care of all the living things that God created (Genesis 1:28). Today, God still wants us to be responsible for the plants and animals that are in our care. If we have a pet, we are to take care of its needs. If we raise animals for food, we are not to squander what we’ve been given. If we garden or farm, we are to do our best to grow specific plants. How do you care for other living things?
Pray:Ask the Creator to help you take good care of His creation.
