O Lord, You’re Beautiful
This devotional was written by Jim Burns
Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise. Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever!" Revelation 7:11-13
Keith Green will go down in history as one of the great Christian songwriters of our time. In the 1980s he died in a plane crash at the height of his popularity as a Christian musician. His music will last forever. My favorite song of his is the one below. If you know the tune, sing it to God today. If you don't know the tune, read these incredible words. They are my daily prayer.
O Lord, you're beautiful, Your face is all I seek. For when your eyes are on this child, Your grace abounds to me. 0 Lord you're merciful, Your love is all I need. And when your love is on this child, It's forgiveness I receive. 0 Lord please light the fire, That once burned bright and clear. Renew the lamp of my first love, That burned with holy fear.
GOING DEEPER:
- Take a few moments to tell God why he is beautiful in your life.
- Why do you think the power of praise is such a positive release of our spirit?
PSALM OF PRAISE
I have asked the LORD for one thing, one thing only do I want: to live in the LORD's house all my life, to marvel there at his goodness, and to ask for his guidance. Psalm 27:4
