How God Knew Me Before I Knew Myself
Welcome to Christianity.com. My name is Dana Shea Williams, and I am a speaker, marriage coach, and podcast host. But more importantly, I am a Christian. Here's why.
From the time that I was little, I've always felt called. I always had this love for God that I really couldn't explain. I listened to my mom tell stories about when I was a little kid, and even before I was communicative, she would talk to me about the things of God, and I would stare deep into her eyes like I understood everything she was saying. It reminds me of what God told the prophet Jeremiah. He said,
"Before I formed you and your mother's womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart." I definitely remember growing up feeling set apart.
I remember growing up and having this deep love for Jesus that was unexplainable. When all my friends were doing everything wild, I sat in Bible study. I was one of those kids who didn't want to go to Sunday school. I wanted to stay in the sanctuary and hear the word. That is how much I loved God. I got saved as a very young child, and I still remember sitting in the kitchen, asking Jesus Christ to come into my heart to this day. I had found artwork from when I was little, with pictures that I would draw Jesus. I had such a love for him. Now, I wish I could tell you that from the time I was little till the age that I am today, I just followed God wholeheartedly, never had any issues, and never fell into anything, but that's not the truth.
One of the reasons I love God so much is that he's a keeper. Even when we're faithless, the Bible says that God remains faithful because he cannot deny who he is. So, whether it's my story of getting pregnant as a teenager or going through many obstacles and challenges in my 25-year marriage or whether it's just simply doubting my faith, doubting who I am in Christ, or doubting whether the Bible is even really true, I know this one thing.
God is a keeper. He has been so faithful to me and has proven himself to me time after time. No matter what I'm going through, whether I decide to give up on my end of the rope or not, God never lets go of his end. Today, I want to encourage you that God is a keeper, whatever you're going through. He knew you before you were born and set you apart to have a relationship with him. I just want to encourage you today to be blessed. Christianity.com is such an incredible resource for you. Be sure to visit it regularly because God's not finished with us yet.
