Do You Love Others with God’s Love? - Love Worth Finding - January 20
January 20, 2024 – Do You Love Others with God’s Love?
Ephesians 5:1-4
Sermon: 2045 The Last Step on the Way Down, Part 2
Pray Over This
“Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.”
Ephesians 5:24-26
Ponder This
You need to make a decision. Give your heart to Almighty God because He is the only One who can guide you. After you make that decision, depend on Him, and look to Him. He will deliver you from sexual immorality if you trust Him. After decision and dependence, you need devotion. Love God with all of your heart and love your own wife, your own husband, with a supernatural love. When the Bible says, “Husbands, love your wives,” (Ephesians 5:25) that’s not a suggestion, that’s not a request—it is a command, and anything God commands you to do, you can do.
Finally, you need development. Feed your love and help it to grow. Love is not like a diamond—something you find hard, brittle, and beautiful, and you keep it to save it. Love is like a flower; it’s got to be cultivated, watered, cared for, and nurtured. If you don’t love your wife more today than you did when you married her, you probably love her less. Continue to feed that love from day to day. Develop that love for God and for your spouse.
- In which area do you struggle the most: decision, dependence, devotion, or development?
- How has God’s love helped you love others better?
Practice This
Love your spouse in an intentional way today. If you are not married, encourage a godly couple you appreciate.
