When You Can’t Explain God’s Mysteries - Love Worth Finding - June 22

June 22, 2024 – When You Can’t Explain God’s Mysteries
Matthew 13:31-32
Sermon: 2044 The Mystery of the Mustard Seed and the Devil’s Dirty Birds, Part 2

Pray Over This

“Another parable He put forth to them, saying: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.’”
Matthew 13:31-32

Ponder This

This little seed is an herb that becomes a tree, and the birds of the air come and nest in its branches. But this is strange because this should grow into a shrub, and shrubs don’t become trees. What our Lord is talking about here is something unnatural; it’s a strange development. Herbs don’t become trees. A farmer does not expect an herb to become a tree.

But how can we stand secure when there are wonders of the Kingdom we don’t understand? We can rest assured the sacred Sower is the Son of Man, the Lord Jesus. He is the One who plants the good seed that is going to reap the harvest. You don’t have to worry about the mysteries because you can be sure that the Lord is going to build His Church. Then that seed, the truth of God’s Word, may be small but it is strong, and it has a secret—it pulsates with life and will reproduce and reproduce.

  • What are some of the mysteries of the Kingdom you struggle with understanding?
  • Why is it important to trust God even with the mysteries of life?

Practice This

Talk to a trusted friend about some of the mysteries of the Kingdom you don’t understand. Ask your friend to pray for you to trust God with the things you don’t understand.
