Do You Struggle to Obey God? - Love Worth Finding - March 9

March 9, 2024 – Do You Struggle to Obey God?
John 17:6-8
Sermon: 1965 No Other Way to Heaven Except through Jesus, Part 2

Pray Over This

“I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.”
John 17:6-8

Ponder This

The reason some of us don’t understand the Bible any more than we do is that we have not been living up to the light God has already given us. Why should God show you more in the Word of God until you obey what you already know? Isn’t that a good question? You have excuses about why you don’t obey basic calls of Scripture, then you’re reading a passage of Scripture and thinking, “I wonder why I don’t understand this. God show me what this means.” God says, “Why should I show you what that means? You haven’t obeyed what I’ve already shown you.” If you want to understand the part of the Bible you don’t understand, begin to obey the part you do understand. God will give you more as you’re faithful with what you’ve received.

The problem is not in the head; the problem is in the heart. When a person surrenders his or her will, God will speak. Light obeyed increases light! Live up to the light that you have, and God will give you more.

  • What are some commands in Scripture you struggle to follow?
  • What does it look like to surrender your will to God?
