And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

--2 Corinthians 9:8

It’s important to understand your blessings — what they are about and what you are to do with them. The highlighted verse for today is one of my favorites. It is the promise to His children of His abundant blessings. He’s the source and sustainer of this world and universe — the glue that holds everything together. It’s pretty amazing when you stop to think about it.

Several years ago, I was watching a newer version of Mr. Wizard, a television show that teaches children science and gravity and more. As I watched them display the glories and greatness of creation, I realized once again that God is Creator and Sustainer of all those things. He is the Alpha and Omega — the Beginning and the End! And whatever you need in life, He is your supplier.

God is unlimited and unchanging. He is the source and sufficiency of our supply. Paul had a thorn in his flesh, and while we’re not certain what it was, he asked God to deliver him over and over. Finally the answer came: “Paul, My grace is sufficient for you, even at the point of your greatest need.” When you hurt more than you can imagine, God’s grace is abundant.

You may be going through a difficult time right now financially, but I have a conviction that God gives most of us about as much money as He can trust us with. And if God knows that we’ll be faithful to give to Him those things He’s given to us, He will lavish those material blessings back upon us. When you give, remember that it must be initiated by the Lord, it must be redemptive in nature, and ask yourself if it will glorify God or man. Thank God for supplying all your needs and determine to give back to Him what is His.

THE CHANNEL OF BLESSING IS A CYCLE — WE GIVE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE, IN ORDER THAT WE MAY GIVE, IN ORDER THAT WE MAY RECEIVE, IN ORDER THAT WE MAY GIVE…
