Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

--Psalm 62:8

I’ve always been extremely healthy and stayed very active. But several years ago, I had a healthy problem for the first time in my life. I didn’t know what was wrong. For about two or three months, I walked around like I was seasick all the time.

I went through many tests and was soon put in the hospital where my gallbladder was taken out (whether I needed it or not). They were trying all kinds of things to find out what was wrong. After the operation, I still didn’t feel any better, and so I had some more serious tests done. I actually had the wonderful privilege of being slid into a hollow cylinder where I had an MRI done.

I’ll admit I was scared, but I said, “Lord, I’m making this cylinder an altar to You. Whatever this test says—good, bad, or whatever—I want You to know that I’m on the altar. My life is Yours and I put my trust in You.” I can tell you that the most overwhelming sense of peace flooded my soul at that moment.

I haven’t felt the sickness since that time. It was truly a turning point in my life. I’ve put my life on the altar before, but I needed the experience of going through another trial and struggle to make sure I was still there and my life was where I said it was. And I wish I could tell you that I’m always on the altar, but I’m just like you are.

The problem with living sacrifices is that they keep crawling off the altar. We all struggle staying there at the point of surrender. But it is there in the arms of God that we find the sweetest serenity. What God is looking for in our lives is a willing heart! Don’t be afraid to follow, believe, and completely trust in Him.

FULLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY SURRENDER YOUR LIFE TO THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST AND YOU CAN COUNT ON HIM TO DO THE VERY BEST IN YOUR LIFE.
