And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.”
--1 Kings 18:21
From the Old Testament to the New Testament, the Scripture is pretty clear when it comes to what our commitment to Christ should look like.
In today’s verse, Elijah asks, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions?” Then in James 1:8 we read that a double-minded man is “unstable in all his ways.” And in Revelation 3:15-16, Jesus says, “I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”
Today, I want to ask you, are you limping between two opinions? Are you lukewarm for Christ? Because if you say Jesus is your Lord, He deserves the entirety of your life… to truly be the Lord of your life!
Decide today to not be like so many Christians who are flirting with the world and the idols of this world… those who want to have one foot in the kingdom of this world and another in the
Now, I realize that I’m coming on pretty strong here today. But really, how much longer are the people of God going to limp along in their faith? How much longer are we going to wimp out in our commitment to Christ?
The story of Elijah is a constant reminder to me of what God can do through someone who’s sold out, heart and soul, to Him. It’s a testimony of what one man can accomplish when his heart is totally and completely God’s. And you know, that’s the kind of man I want to be… and I pray it’s the kind of man or woman you want to be as well!
Jesus Christ deserves the entirety of your life to truly be the lord of your life.
