How to be ready for the coming King

July 17

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. - Revelation 19:13-15

In the early 1990s, coalition troops of Operation Desert Storm wowed the world with their 100-hour ground assault against Saddam Hussein’s troops who had invaded Kuwait. You might think that was one for the record books, but history actually says otherwise.

The shortest war ever fought on record was between Britain and the then tiny island nation of Zanzibar off the East Coast of Africa in August of 1896. The huge British fleet issued an ultimatum to the Sultan of Zanzibar, followed by 38 minutes of intense bombardment before the badly mismatched Sultan surrendered!

Yes, those are some impressive military victories. Yet, both of them pale in comparison to the victory Jesus will exact upon His enemies when He returns. In fact, the entire war will be over with the utterance of a simple word – a sword from His mouth. That’s the power of our Savior!

The same Jesus who died on the cross for your sins is coming again as a conquering King. Thank God for the power He’s given His Son to be a conqueror who’s on your side and look forward to the day when He returns in glory and power!

Prayer Challenge

Pray and thank God that His Son, Jesus, is returning again as a conquering King who’s on your side!
