Time with God - Aug. 5, 2011
For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
When it comes to love, God is not all talk!
It’s easy to talk about love. We do it all the time. We talk about it and sing about it and write about it. But do we really love?
Think for a minute about the love of God. God wants to challenge our way of loving. Paul talks about how human love works, that in an extreme case someone might even be willing to die for a good man whose life shows great promise or value. But God’s love kept reaching out to us when we were really offensive to Him. Is there anyone offensive in your life?
God’s love kept loving us when we hurt Him deeply. Has anyone hurt you deeply?
God’s love cared about us when we were so self-centered. Is there anyone self-centered in your life?
God’s love didn’t mean that He just endured the wrongness in our lives. No, He actively worked to help us find Christ, to get right with Him. Likewise, God wants you to not just let people trample you, but reach out to them and help them find God.
