Time with God - December 11
Wednesday 11th December
“So he told them this parable: ‘What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.’”
As concerned as God is for us who already know and love him, he’s even more concerned for those who still need to find him!
It’s obvious, Jesus says, if you’re a shepherd and one of your sheep is lost, you leave the rest and go looking for that one until you find it. Here, Jesus explains why he spends so much time with sinful people.
God loves you so much. You’re his precious child. He cares for you and provides for you. But if you’re no longer lost, you’re not his greatest concern. He wants you to feel the deep concern he has for lost people around you who need to be “found.”
Be like him — spend time with them and share God with them.
What lost person in your life could you spend some time with this week?
