Time with God - December 19, 2016
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”
Have I been fulfilling the Great Commission?
We call these verses the Great Commission because they tell us Jesus’ final call on our lives before ascending to be with his Father in heaven. As Paul put it in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, Jesus handed on to us the ministry that he came to earth to begin.
God’s desire for you, whether you’re a pastor, a student, an IT specialist, an accountant, or a tradesman, is that whatever you do, you lead people to Jesus Christ at the same time.
God doesn’t want you to neglect your job in order to ‘preach’ to people. Rather, look for opportunities in your everyday conversations to turn the discussion to spiritual things, to share what God means to you, to ask if you can pray with someone about something in their lives, to talk about the way to get right with God.
If they’re open and interested, keep the conversation going. If not, just wait for the right time.
