Time with God - July 26, 2017
“And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, ‘Save us, Lord; we are perishing.’ And he said to them, ‘Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?’ Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” (vv. 24-26)
Faith and fear are incompatible!
“Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Jesus’ faith in his Father’s purpose left him without fear. He was asleep in the back of the boat, while the disciples were panicking with fear about the storm. He knew his Father, and so he could relax in the midst of danger.
What storm are you facing today that is leaving you fearful? Get your focus back onto God instead of that situation. Remind yourself that he is in the boat with you and that he is over all things. He is bigger than any waves threatening you. Re-commit yourself to his will for you and let him know that you trust him with this situation coming up, whatever his will is.
God is reminding you to face life today with a conscious awareness of his presence with you, his purpose for you, his power on your behalf, and his perfect love surrounding you.
