Time with God - Nov. 4, 2011

Matthew 22:35-38

One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the great and foremost commandment.”

According to Jesus, the chief end of your life is to love God with all that is in you!

You may have memorized at some point that the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. And this is not in conflict with Jesus’ words. But one is the result and the other is the cause. One is the root and the other is the fruit.

The root, from which all other right things in the Christian life flow, is your all-consuming love for Jesus Christ. If you love God in the right way, all the other aspects of your life will become right too. If you love God you’ll obey Him and honor Him and live to please Him. If you love God you’ll love His will for you. If you love God, you’ll keep on trusting Him in the hard times. If you love God, He’ll fill your mind and your speech.

Why are you here? To love God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. How can you love God more fully today?
