Time with God - October 27
Saturday 27th October
“All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.”
There is great value in praying together with others!
If you want to develop your prayer life, you need to develop it in two directions: firstly, in the area of your own personal relational interaction with God, and secondly, in the area of praying with others. If you choose the right `others’ to pray with, your group prayer will be one of the biggest factors in the growth and maturity of your own personal prayer life.
When I was a teenager, I began meeting with a group of older men in my church for prayer at 8am every Saturday morning. It was immediately obvious to me that these men knew God deeply and knew how to pray. There were times when we prayed for two hours and I just listened and agreed with their prayers, and times when I couldn’t keep from praying the things on my heart.
We were not just praying through a list, we were calling on God for his work in our lives and in our church. Through those men I learned when to claim something in faith, how to express my heart to God, how to use the Bible in prayer.
Who is there in your life that you could begin meeting with to pray?
