Dark Eyelashes, Bright Eyes - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of June 30

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

Dark Eyelashes, Bright Eyes

I was noticing the other day that when I put my eye-shadow on, the powder from the eye-shadow makes my eyelashes light and my face looks like it’s missing something. It’s like my face is dusted into non-distinction. It’s even more obvious after I put powder on my face. Where did I go? Ah, but then I find my eyeliner and my mascara. Before I put my mascara on, I take a Q-tip and I wet it, then I rub it across my lashes to get the eye-shadow dust off of them. Now, my eyelashes are prepared to receive the distinction of the dark mascara upon them. Boom! There it is! In seconds, my eyes have distinction, a nice finishing frame of dark, in contrast to the light eye-shadow on my lids. It is this contrast that makes my eyes look clear, clean, crisp and ready for the day. Likewise, I consider the Word of God as clarity to the eyes of my soul. When I wake, I feel somehow blurred into the length of the night and the fog of the morning. But then, I find distinction and clarity of the Word. As a result, I feel equipped to dust darkness off of my shoulders because the light of the Word brings revelation to my soul and firmly places the Sword of the Spirit in my hand. In so doing, I am able to rest in shadow of His wings because I know that His powerful light will become evident upon my faith.

You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.

2 Samuel 22:29
