The Bird's Chirp - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of August 30
The Bird’s Chirp
I remember when my son, Jacob, was 10-months-old and we were told that he was profoundly deaf. I was greatly dismayed, and then I heard a bird chirp, and I was even more dismayed.
It seemed that the chirp of a bird didn’t have a joyous ring to it anymore. Instead of a beautiful sound, it became a beautiful sound that my son could not hear. But then, God impressed upon me that one does not need ears to hear God, I was encouraged, and I asked God to let my son’s soul hear the choirs of Heaven! I knew a bird’s chirp, compared to the choirs of Heaven, would pale in comparison.
God showed me not to let my joy be limited to the boundaries of a bird’s chirp. Since then, I have noticed that I can tell the temperature of my faith by how I respond to the sound of a bird’s chirp. I can tell how I am doing spiritually by how glorious or not glorious I consider the sound of birds. When I notice that the bird’s chirp begins to sound dull, I call out to God to brighten my spirit, not by earthly standards or circumstances, but in comparison to a Heavenly choir. As a result, when I have tough times, and I notice that the bird’s chirp has lost its zing, I ask God to flood my soul with compassion that resonates from the sound of His heart, and I am reminded that God will not be bound by deafness, the limits of a bird’s chirp or the circumstances that I face. God’s love is louder than it all!
Have you heard the sound of birds chirping today? More importantly, have you heard to loving voice of the Savior saying, “Joy abound, Joy abound!”
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.
