God's Love in Female Form - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of July 9
GOD’S LOVE IN FEMALE FORM
I bet you thought this was going to be about Mary, mother of Jesus. This devotional is not an in-depth study of Mary. Rather, it is a reflection of a precious friend of mine, Celia Brien. Words don’t really begin to do her justice. You have to meet this ball of southern hospitality love in person yourself to get the gist of how amazing she is. More importantly, she has a brilliant way of making you feel so good about yourself that you wonder what happened when she’s gone! All you know is you can’t wait to get around her again. If you get close enough to her, she’ll hold your face and quote “The Help” by saying “You so kind, you so smart, you so important,” while she places her hands on your cheeks, looks you in the eyes, and just hugs you with her eyelashes! I’m serious! Like a warm spring rain that covers you with grace is the presence of this lovely woman.
God used her to melt off any residual hard defenses off of me from my childhood. I couldn’t have fought her off if I’d tried. Frankly, I didn’t want to try; I was drawn to her like a mosquito blindly going towards the light to its death. Ha, that makes me chuckle. While that sounds like a real red-neck version of describing her love, in all honesty I was drawn to her light. And the grace that she exudes did cause a type of death to occur within me, but it was a death to self-pity, a death to despair, and a death to the sorrows from my past abuses and neglect from women in my life as a child.
And, beautifully, I must say, it has led to a new beginning of flourishing love, like a field of wild-flowers dancing in the breeze; I am free to dance in the light of the love of God within Celia’s female form! I told her once, “You are God’s love come down in female form!” It’s the best way to describe her. Healing exists in her hug, in her voice, in her eyes, in her fingertips and within her love for you. I can safely say she loves you too. She may not know you, personally, but I can safely say, she’d love you if she met you because she loves women – all people really - with the love of the Lord, but oh what a heart she has to reach women with God’s love in her female form.
Celia Brien is God’s love in female form and I hope you get to meet her one day!
I praise God and I thank God for the day He introduced us.
Have you hugged your girlfriend today?
