What You Speak Becomes Reality - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of July 9

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

What You Speak Becomes Reality

Recently, God impressed upon me that I must speak a new language. Let me explain. He taught me that “what” I speak will occur; therefore, I can no longer speak about what I “don’t have,” because in so doing, I am confirming that I don’t have something, rather than claiming in faith what is to come from the hand of God.

Let me simplify: If I talk of having no money, I am focused on no money. If I talk about the size of the mountains before me, I am focusing on my obstacles. By doing this, I am placing the “lack of” or the “big problem” in a more prominent place of worship than God! When I focus on a lack of resources and/or the hill rather than the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills and the One who created the hills of the earth, I am worshiping an idol of “lack of” or “too big.” The language I speak must be a language of faith. I must speak what I believe to be true of God, rather than speaking of what I see with mere physical eyes. Either way whatever I speak will occur, and there are consequences and blessings that result from both instances (every time)! I am not speaking of a name it and claim it faith, but I am saying that you can’t do or receive anything you don’t believe God for first. Plus, when the focus is on God (not your ability or inability), anything is possible.

Take the story from the previous devotional: Remember the people who said the giants were too big? They did not believe that they could conquer the giants and walk into the promise land, and they spoke this aloud, and made plans to stone their leaders and return to slavery. As a result, God ensured that they did not enter the promise land because of their lack of faith in Him.

The Lord replied, “I have forgiven them, as you asked. Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the Lord fills the whole earth, not one of the men who saw my glory and the miraculous signs I performed in Egypt and in the desert but who disobeyed me and tested me ten times –not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their forefathers. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.”

Numbers 14:20-23

Likewise, the centurion exercised great faith through his words, and as a result, Jesus rewarded him by doing as the centurion believed.

Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘God’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.”

The story ends with Jesus saying, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.

Matthew 8:13
