I Am Born of God
“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves his child as well.” 1 John 5:1
My identity was in jeopardy. Dropping my maiden name once wed was fine—until my brothers got married and their new wives took on my family name as theirs. Now, it wasn’t that I felt jealous of my sweet new sisters-in-law; I loved them very much and was glad they became a part of our family. Rather I felt I’d lost part of my identity. My former name had defined me. Now, my absent father’s last name left a bizarre heartache. Have you ever experienced something similar?
Thankfully, over time, this strange feeling waned. I will always be my dad’s daughter, no matter my name. And thankfully, as I grow in maturity in Christ, I understand more and more that I am a child of God. The Father has given me His name forever. That’s an identity I can never lose.
When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are stamped with His seal that can never come off. This mark also means we have brothers and sisters all over the world. Our family, all having the same last name as the Kings of Kings, is greater than we can imagine. Because of our mutual love for our Father, we should adore and care for one another.

Let us thank God for calling us His and seek to love all like our Father demonstrates to us.
