When you feel overwhelmed with the anxiety of poor health - whether physical, emotional, or mental - God provides peace and healing. We can turn to God and pray for our health and the health of those we love. It's natural to pray when we are sick or when our loved ones are sick. But what if we prayed for our health even when we are feeling good? What if we spent time asking God to increase our health?

“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” (3 John 1:2)

Though we don’t have full control over flu germs, depression, and terminal disease, we can choose to read Scripture daily and to pray over our health. Let’s pray for complete health, mind, body and soul. To seek His counsel in all things, and welcome the wisdom of the Holy Spirit into the part of our hearts that need healing. A healthy life is comprised of more than a fit physically body free of injury and illness. Here are 12 prayers you can use to pray over your health.

A Short Prayer for Good Health

Dear Lord, We come before You to seek Your blessing of good health. Grant us the strength to lead vibrant, energetic lives and the peace to enjoy every moment You give us. May Your protective hand guide us away from illness and pain, and may Your healing touch restore those who are already suffering. Help us to nurture our bodies and spirits, and to live in a way that honors the life You have granted us. In Your loving care, we place our well-being, trusting in Your endless goodness. Amen.

Prayer of Gratitude for My Health

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of health. I am so grateful for the strength in my body, the breath in my lungs, and the ability to live each day fully. I know that every heartbeat, every step, and every moment of wellness is a blessing from You. Thank You for sustaining me, for healing me when I’ve been unwell, and for surrounding me with Your constant care.

Lord, help me to never take my health for granted. Teach me to care for my body as a temple of Your Holy Spirit, making choices that honor You. And in times when I don’t feel my best, remind me that You are my ultimate healer and source of strength. With a heart full of gratitude, I praise You for Your goodness and faithfulness in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Petition Prayer for Continued Good Health

Gracious Lord, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude and a humble request. Thank You for the health and strength You’ve given me. I pray that You would continue to protect me—body, mind, and spirit. Keep me strong against illness, fill me with energy, and help me to live a life that glorifies You.

Father, I trust in Your divine care and ask for wisdom to make healthy choices that align with Your will. Guide me in nourishing my body, resting when needed, and staying active in ways that honor the life You’ve blessed me with. Lord, I place my health in Your hands, knowing You are the Great Physician. Strengthen me, restore me, and let my life be a testament to Your goodness and grace. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

A Prayer for Complete Health and Wholeness

Father, Praise You for this, and every day that we get to wake up this side of heaven. Each day is laced with purpose, and we ask for Your wisdom and guidance through every one. Help us to live each day well, and for Your glory, from start to finish.

Thank You for Your Word, which breathes life into our tired souls and minds. You promise to meet us there, in study and prayer. Thank You for the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross, paying with His life for our ease of access to our Heavenly Father through prayer and Scripture. Each biblical story and truth weave in and out our lives in Your perfect timing.

Father, You remind us throughout Scripture that You are faithful to Your people. Jeremiah 33:6 says, “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” So often, as in the Old Testament, we rebel, neglect to care for ourselves as You do, and end up tired and sick. But Father You are faithful to enwrap us in Your healing love each time we turn back to You.

Forgive us for neglecting to care for the life You have entrusted us with. The life that You have purposed specifically to do more than we can ask for or imagine. When we go our own way, we wear ourselves down, physically and mentally. Other times, we train physically but neglect our psyche. We often neglect our spiritual life.

Father, strengthen us to hold captive the joy You bless our lives with daily. Help us to walk freely in Your love. For as Paul reminds us in 1 Timothy 4:8 (VOICE), “Although training your body has certain payoffs, godliness benefits all things--holding promise for life here and now and promise for the life that is coming.” Send us more of Your Holy Spirit, to help us focus on Your Word daily. Give us hearts like Jesus.

Give us the wisdom to seek You first each day, before each decision. It’s often the little thoughts and daily decisions that lead us into a sudden spiral of bad health. Enlighten us and guide us through Your Word. Let our hearts burn for more of You each day.

Help us endure the pain of chronic conditions, some of which will not find healing in this broken and sinful world. We know that You work all things for good, but in those moments of chronic pain and suffering, it can be impossible to understand Your perfect and just hand in it all. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer for Protection from Illness and Injury

Heavenly Father, I come before You today, seeking Your mighty protection over my life. Lord, I ask that You watch over my coming and going, guarding me from sickness, injury, and anything that seeks to harm me. Surround me with Your divine hedge of protection—shielding me from viruses, accidents, and all forms of illness that threaten my body and well-being.

Strengthen my immune system, renew my energy, and keep my body strong and resilient. I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and I trust that You are my refuge and fortress, my ever-present help in times of need.

Father, guide my steps and grant me wisdom to make choices that promote health and wellness. Cover me with Your healing touch and let no disease or harm come near me or my loved ones. I claim Your promises of protection and declare that I am safe under Your wings. Thank You for being my protector and healer, today and always. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Prayer for Healing and Restoration

Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I claim those promises over my friend. I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of my friend. Please reach down and surround my friend with supernatural peace and strength and give her the faith to believe that all things are possible for you. Protect her from Satan's lies and discouragement and let her miraculous healing begin. Amen.

Prayer for Miracles and Health

Heavenly Father, Thank You for answering my prayers and performing miracles in my life every day. Just the fact that I woke up this morning and can take a breath is a gift from You. Dear Lord, thank you for the provision of my body and the variety of foods that fuels it. Forgive me for dishonoring you, at times, by not taking care of this body.
