Let me first start by saying a huge “thank you” to every teacher reading this. You deserve recognition and praise for the hard work you put in each and every day. Teaching in these times isn’t easy, and your job comes with a burden many don’t truly understand. As a former educator, I understand the love you pour into your students, the time and effort you give, and the sacrifices you make to grow the next generation. You may not always hear it, but you are truly special, and our hearts and prayers are with each of you. May God continue to bless you, keep you safe, and allow you to use your gifts and talents to foster a love of learning in our children.
If you are a brand-new teacher, this being your very first year, let me be among the first to tell you that God is about to use you to do some amazing things for His glory. Open your heart to His will and watch the goodness that flows. You have a special calling; believe that! You are called to be an instrument of knowledge, bringing hope, inspiring, and reaching a generation that desperately needs it. So, take heart, and go into this journey without trepidation, but rather with peace and joy, knowing you are making a difference in this world.
The prayers below are designed just for you. Take them and tuck them in your desk to refer to on the hard days. The days you want to give up. The days you forget the importance of your calling. The days you feel overwhelmed. The days you don’t feel you are making a difference. Let God touch your heart and woo you back to His unfailing love, reminding you that His plan and purpose for you are good, and He is faithful.
1. A Prayer for Safety
Lord, I am thankful for the protection You provide. You are my rock and refuge. Please place a hedge of protection around my classroom today and keep us safe in Your care. Amen.
2. A Prayer for Harmony in the Classroom
Gracious Father, You are our source of peace and comfort. Please bring about unity in my class as we come together to learn. Lead and guide me as I go about my day and teach these young minds about love, kindness, and compassion for others. Amen.
3. A Prayer for Relationships with Colleagues
Loving Father, help me show Your gracious love. Give me the wisdom to extend that love to my co-workers and offer peace wrapped in forgiveness. Please open my eyes to ways I can gather wisdom and bring forth relationships in which I can gain support. Amen.
4. A Prayer for Rapport with Parents
Dear God, I lift up my heart to You and ask that there is a gracious line of communication between my students and their parents. Help me understand their needs and be aware of issues that arise so I can approach them with professional compassion. Amen.
5. A Prayer for Perseverance
Oh Lord, some days are truly difficult, and I lose my will to try. I want to give up. When I am weary and overwhelmed, grant me the courage to remain steadfast. Remind me of this calling and give me the stamina to see Your goodness. Amen.
6. A Prayer to Be a Light
Thank You for being an ever-present light in my day, Lord. Give me opportunities to share that light with others. Help me deliver Your message of hope and do so with bold conviction. Amen.
7. A Prayer for the Difficult Students
You Father are Creator of all. Help me see that when I want to judge or hold resentment towards any of my students. Help me show your compassion, grace, and mercy. Give me Your source of strength, wisdom, and renewed energy when I walk into my classroom daily. Amen.
8. A Prayer for the Hard Days
Faithful Father, I am frustrated and don’t see the fruits of my endless labor. I feel unappreciated. Please rekindle this passion for teaching. Etch in my heart Your call on my life so I can strive to make an impact in the lives of my students. Amen.
9. A Prayer for Wisdom and Discernment
Heavenly Father, I want to teach wisdom, Your wisdom. Help me shape the minds of this generation in a way that they long to seek You. Equip and encourage me to share Your love with my students and plant a seed in their hearts. Amen.
10. A Prayer for Encouragement
Lord, I come to you with a wounded heart in need of encouragement. Remind me that I am making a difference, an impact, and that what I do is purposeful. Please bless my efforts and restore the peace in my restless heart. Amen.
11. A Prayer for Courage
Jesus, grant me courage. I lift my eyes to You and ask that when I am afraid or feeling weak, You give me the will and drive to continue. When I feel forsaken, unseen, and alone, grant me strength. Give me the courage to lead and protect my students, Lord. Amen.
12. A Prayer for Health and Well-Being
Jehovah Rapha, You are the God that heals. When sickness arises or emotional or mental health declines, I ask that You restore our health. Bring forth Your healing over my classroom. I ask this in Your Holy name. Amen.
13. A Prayer for Test Days
Oh God, You know these days can prove trying for us all - teachers, students, and parents. Yet, You are a gracious God. We invite You in on these days to bring a sense of calm and peace while delivering us from anxiety and worry. Amen.
14. A Prayer for Patience and Understanding
Father God, I am thankful that You are so patient with me. That You extend Your mercy and grace time and time again. Help me lean on that when my patience is tested with myself and others. Amen.
15. A Prayer for Confidence and Preparedness
Thank You for the many promises found in Your Word, God. Your promise for strength and rest. The promise to care for our needs and that You work everything out for Your good. When my faith wavers and I lose trust, remind me of Your faithfulness, goodness, and grace. You are a good Father. Thank you for taking care of me and this role You placed me in. Lead and guide me. Amen.
