Hope and Unity Take Center Stage at 2025 National Day of Prayer

The fast-approaching National Day of Prayer event will be taking place on Thursday, May 1st of 2025. With the increasing polarization the nation has faced over the past decade or two, a prayer event with a focus of mobilizing unified public prayer for America is needed now more than ever.
The event exists to remind all individuals that personal repentance and prayer are needed and to encourage unified prayer for the country’s leaders and families. Those selected for the event’s task force are intended to represent a Judeo-Christian expression of the national event, with the belief that America was “birthed in prayer and reverence for the God of the Bible,” according to the National Day of Prayer website.
Seeking God for Hope, Joy, and Peace
Throughout various times in America’s history, the people of the nation have called on the God of Hope during various tragedies and hardships. The theme for the 2025 National Day of Prayer, “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled,” was inspired by Romans 15:13: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
“Prayer is being mobilized every year and beyond, in almost every county in America by the nearly 19,000 prayer missionaries—organized, equipped, and made ready by God, as His strategies are poured through the National Day of Prayer Task Force,” Task Force President Kathy Branzell told the Christian Newswire. “These teams bring unity to their communities through fervent prayer and by building relationships with those in leadership across every sphere of influence—specifically and strategically praying for them, with them, for their families, staff, and the people they serve.”
Last week, President Trump released a message in which he declared his administration would make a point of defending faith in schools, the military, workplaces, hospitals, and the halls of government. He also called on Americans to bring religion and God back into their lives during his National Prayer Breakfast speech, according to WDSU.
Stirring Artwork for 2025 National Day of Prayer
The artwork designed for this year’s National Day of Prayer event is stirring, and will leave Christians familiar with the prophetic message and symbolism embodied in the artwork breathless. It was painted by United Kingdom artist, Julie Ann Scott.
Scott’s inspiration for the event’s artwork came from Revelation 19:11-14: “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness, He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.”
Branzell and Scott were in prayer and frequent communication as Scott created the artwork. Scott says she spent a great deal of time in fasting and prayer, asking the Lord to show her what to paint. She also said she was shaking and sobbing as she painted what the Lord showed her, according to the theme information on the National Day of Prayer website.
This year’s national broadcast will be co-hosted by Branzell and former NFL Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow on various TV and radio stations, websites such as Faith and Friends, social media, and streaming services at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Those interested to participate can get details for both virtual and physical gatherings at the National Day of Prayer gatherings website.
