‘The Chosen’ Unveils 5 Future Projects Including Acts, Moses and Bear Grylls Series among Them

The studio behind The Chosen unveiled an ambitious slate of future projects Friday, including a series based on the book of Acts and an animated series about a young girl in first-century Capernaum who encounters Jesus. Five future projects were unveiled in total, a remarkable accomplishment that underscores The Chosen's global reach and massive growth since its launch in 2019. The Bible-based series depicting the story of Jesus and the disciples gained a devoted following during the pandemic.

The fifth season of The Chosen will debut in 2025, with the sixth and seventh seasons launching in 2026 and 2027, respectively. Season 5 retells the story of Jesus during Holy Week, including the Last Supper. Season 6 will focus on the crucifixion, with Season 7 culminating in the resurrection.

Future projects were unveiled during the fan-focused ChosenCon event in Orlando, Fla. The projects were:

-- A series based on the Acts of the Apostles.

-- A three-season series about Moses.

-- A limited series about the life of Joseph.

-- The Chosen Adventures is a 14-episode animated series set in Capernaum and follows 9-year-old Abby and her friend Joshua as they meet Jesus around 30 A.D. A plot summary describes Abby as an inquisitive girl who doesn't "have the kinds of answers she's looking for" -- until she meets Jesus. It will feature the voice talents of Emmy-winning actor Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird), Emmy-nominated actress Yvonne Orji (Insecure), and Grammy-nominated singer Jordin Sparks, as well as multiple cast members from The Chosen: Jonathan Roumie, Elizabeth Tabish, Paras Patel, Noah James, Joey Vahedi, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Brandon Potter and George Xanthis.

-- The Chosen In the Wild with Bear Grylls, a six-episode unscripted series that features the adventurer and former British Special Forces member as he "ventures into the wild" with a cast member of The Chosen "while exploring their personal stories and diving deeper into their own perspectives on the series and the characters they portray." Grylls is known for his hit series, Man vs. Wild. The Chosen In the Wild is produced by The Natural Studios in association with 5&2 Studios.

Dallas Jenkins, the creator and director of The Chosen, had long hinted at future projects under The Chosen umbrella.

"Hopefully, after I take a nap for about a year when The Chosen is done, we've got other Bible stories to tell because the demand seems to be so strong," Jenkins said in 2023 at the K-Love Fan Awards.

The series has been viewed by more than 720 million people across 175 countries. It doubled in viewership between its third and fourth seasons.
