Five months after revealing he’s reading through the Bible for the first time ever, actor Tim Allen says he’s finished the Old Testament and has been humbled by the experience. The actor best known for his roles in Home Improvement, the Toy Story franchise, and the Santa Clause films told fans last August he had never taken “time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible.” At the time, Allen said he was “almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets.”
“So far amazing and not at all what I was expecting,” he wrote in August.
Never took the time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible. Currently almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets. Next up to New Testament. So far amazing and not at all what I was expecting.

On Feb. 8, he posted an update, indicating he’s diving deep into Scripture and taking his time.
“After nearly a year I have finished entire Old Testament and the experience of re-reading, dedicated focus and no drifting has made this a humbling overwhelming experience,” Allen wrote in his new post. “What a treasure.”
Allen said he was “three days into [the] New Testament.”

His newest post has 1.4 million views.
His fans encouraged him to continue the journey.
“It is quite the life-changing experience,” one fan wrote. “Every time you open the Bible the words in it are eye and heart opening.”
“Getting to know Jesus in the New Testament will blow your mind and change your life!” another person wrote.
“Best post on X today. Congratulations, my friend. Keep digging. It gets better every time,” still another person wrote.
In 2011, Allen said he credits God for rescuing him from the depths of addiction in the 1970s when he spent two years in prison on a drug conviction.
“Whoever built me, this is too much, too weird that it happened by accident,” he told ABC News. “It didn’t happen by accident.”
Allen’s newest series is ABC’s Shifting Gears. Meanwhile, he’s scheduled to voice Buzz Lightyear in 2026’s Toy Story 5.
