3 Doors Down's Brad Arnold Speaks on Finding Purpose in Sharing Jesus
3 Doors Down lead singer Brad Arnold says he is grateful to have told his fans that Jesus loves them during his tour last year. In a recent episode of the "Culture and Christianity" podcast, Arnold told host and pastor Allen Jackson concerning how he felt the Lord was leading him to share a message of His love during his performances, Church Leaders reports.
"I want you to tell them that I love them this summer," Arnold, who co-founded 3 Doors Down at age 15 and wrote the band's hit song "Kryptonite" recalled.
At the time, he acknowledged "how to go about that at a rock concert" when half the people were "standing there with a beer in their hand."
He eventually found a way after seeing a post by born-again country musician Charlie Daniels referencing John the apostle's description as the disciple Jesus loves.
"I was like, that's a good something that I can build on," the singer said.
Although 3 Doors Down had prayed for years before taking the stage, Arnold decided to take a step further and address the crowd himself. After singing the band's song "Away From the Sun" during a concert at Hersheypark Stadium in Pennsylvania, he delivered a message telling them God loves them, according to Faithwire.
"I feel like I can identify with this song more than most of our songs," he said, calling "Away From the Sun" his favorite of the band's ballads. "This world surrounds by a message we'll never be good enough, we'll never be strong enough, we'll never be beautiful enough, we'll never be rich enough."
He also called a "lie" he believes is pushed on social media and in other facets of life: that we'll never be truly loved and that we'll never "win."
"My friends, I just want to take a second to tell you — that's an absolute lie," he said. "You are loved. You are enough, and you will win. Not only can you win, but you will win. You'll always be enough for one reason, and that's because Jesus Christ loves you."
Referencing John as the one whom Jesus loves, Arnold told the crowd, "Repeat after me: I am the one that Jesus loves."
The singer's remarks were met with cheers and applause from the audience after repeating his words.
During the "Culture and Christianity" podcast, Arnold said that he managed to share the love of Jesus with about 680,000 people during his tour last summer.
"That is the highlight of my career if I never get to do anything else," he said. "I'm so thankful that God allowed me to do that."
Arnold also spoke about his upbringing, rise to fame, struggles with alcoholism, and his return to the Lord.

On social media, Arnold has been outspoken about his faith. On Jan. 1, he posted an image with the verse Isaiah 43:19 on it.
"Put your trust in Jesus and watch what He can do in your life this year," he wrote in the caption.
