Chick-fil-A Plans to Launch New Streaming Platform

Chick-fil-A is reportedly planning to launch its own streaming platform, which will include original content. As reported by Deadline, the Atlanta-based chicken chain has reportedly been in talks with multiple production companies, including studios that make family content.

Among the studios mentioned are Glassman Media, the company that produced the NBC show The Wall, and Sugar23, the company behind the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.

Additionally, it has been in talks on licensing and acquiring content, as well as producing scripted and animation projects. Budgets on the unscripted side are believed to be in the range of $400,000 per half-hour. Chick-fil-A has over 3,000 restaurants in the U.S. is interested in creating a 10-episode gameshow, Faithwire reports.

Although Deadline says the streaming platform could launch later this year, a Chick-fil-A spokesperson told Axios it did not have “any news to share at this time.”

Chick-fil-A recently posted a short film trailer titled “Rocky Road” on social media

“Cows. Car chases. Carrots. Everything you want in a bovine blockbuster. Catch the Cows in their new short film, “Rocky Road,” the caption on its Instagram reads.

The restaurant has previously produced content on its website, including Stories of Evergreen Hills, a series of short, animated films.

Chick-fil-A reportedly expressed interest in looking for an entertainment producer in a job listing late last year.

“We are looking to produce original entertainment — entertainment not necessarily about Chick-fil-A products or the Chick-fil-A brand,” the job listing stated.

“This original programming is intended for Chick-fil-A’s soon-to-be launched PLAY entertainment app and may include scripted podcasts and audio adventures, original animation, reality and game shows, and other live-action scripted or non-scripted programming,” it continued.

Chick-fil-A is the latest company outside of the entertainment industry to move original content following the likes of Lyft, which produced shows such as Lucky Lyft, a game show hosted by Bob The Drag Queen, and Airbnb, which previously produced the documentary Gay Chorus Deep South that aired on MTV.

Notably, Chick-fil-A chairman Dan Cathy is a majority owner of Trilith Studios, which is the largest production facility in Georgia, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
