Grammy Award-winning artist Gwen Stefani recently faced criticism after supporting an interview that Tucker Carlson did with “The Chosen” actor Jonathan Roumie.

Roumie, who plays Jesus Christ in “The Chosen,” wrote in response, “It was an unexpectedly insightful and rich conversation. So grateful for you!”
Stefani’s post sparked a polarized response on social media, Church Leaders reported.
“So glad you love the guy who plays Jesus, but you do realize you are also promoting Tucker Carlson?” one person asked. “Tragic Kingdom was my first CD at age 11, Hollaback Girl was my college anthem. You hosted a fundraiser for Barack Obama…Gwen, what has happened?”
Another person remarked, “Knew she was a right-wing grifter when she started promoting a bible app.”
“I’m following you now Gwen, loved you since your ska days in the 90’s and now love you more for loving God and Jesus and seeing Roumie as an inspiration,” said someone else. “Ignore all the demons who will screech that you accept goodness.”
The No Doubt singer, who was raised Catholic, also recently faced criticism for partnering with the Catholic prayer and meditation app, Hallow App for its Pray25 Advent challenge, which also featured Roumie, as well as Lauren Daigle, Bear Grylls, Kevin James, and Francis Chan.
“While I respect anyone’s personal choices, this is definitely a new direction and seems, well, disingenuous,” one person said.
Stefani, along with her husband, country singer Blake Shelton, have publicly shared their appreciation for “The Chosen.”
In a May 2024 post on X, Shelton praised “The Chosen,” saying he had just finished Season 3, “and I absolutely love it.” In response, Stefani said that she was “obsessed” and couldn’t wait to watch Season 4.
Random two thumbs up from a country singer… Just finished season 3 of The Chosen and I absolutely love it. No question in my mind why it’s a world wide phenomenon.
