John MacArthur Released from Hospital after Heart and Lung Surgery Complications

Grace Community Church pastor John MacArthur has been resting at home after being in the hospital for seven weeks due to complications during his recovery from heart and lung surgeries. Phil Johnson, executive director of MacArthur's ministry, Grace To You, announced the news on social media.

"John MacArthur is recovering at home now. Keep him in your prayers," wrote Johnson on X Friday afternoon.

As Crosswalk Headlines previously reported, MacArthur shared during a brief appearance at Grace Community Church in November that he's had "three heart surgeries and surgery on my lungs in those last few months."

Despite the challenges concerning his health, the pastor expressed gratitude to the Lord for sustaining himThe Christian Post reported.

"I'm still here and thankful to the Lord for that," MacArthur said.

"I'm just thankful I see the good and gracious and kind and providential hand of God in every vicissitude in my life, every hard experience, every challenge — whatever that challenge may be."

In a Jan. 30 post, Johnson shared that MacArthur seemed to be "super-optimistic" despite having been in the hospital for six weeks.

"I've been hospitalized four days, with ten more ahead of me, and to be candid, my personal sense of sunniness is somewhat befogged," he wrote at the time.

In addition to posting updates on MacArthur's health, Johnson has also been sharing updates concerning his own health issues regarding the diagnosis of multiple myeloma- an incurable yet treatable blood cancer.

"I'll be in the hospital at least until Monday. My white cells and platelets are still very low. Bone marrow hasn't rebounded yet. I'm getting another transfusion today. But I feel better than I would expect to, given all they've done to me. Thanks for your prayers," Johnson said Friday.

Johnson also denounced claims that MacArthur was "dying in the hospital."
