Lauren Daigle Says She Wrote ‘Rescue’ after God Gave Her a Vision of a Woman Struggling with Addiction

Christian singer and songwriter Lauren Daigle recently shared that her song "Rescue" was based on a vision God gave her about a woman she did not know but would one day meet.

On Saturday, Daigle joined Steven Curtis Chapman, Bart Millard, Anne Wilson, Matthew West, and Michael Cochren onstage at the K-Love Fan Awards' "Songwriters Showcase" in Nashville, Tennessee.

According to ChurchLeaders.com, each musician performed three songs. One of the songs Daigle chose to sing was "Rescue" from her 2018 platinum album Look Up Child. She also shared the inspiration for the song.

"I got this picture of this girl that I didn't know—hadn't met her—but it was a very clear, clear vision of someone that was experiencing drug addiction," Daigle told the audience.

"I didn't know this person," Daigle reiterated.

Years later, a woman approached Daigle and revealed that the song had changed her life.

"I ended up going through rehab, and I used your song 'Rescue' to carry me through," Daigle recalled the woman saying.

"I remember seeing this person and thinking, 'Oh my gosh, she doesn't even know that this is exactly how the song was written,'" Daigle said.

"God will do something amazing with songs," Daigle said, before noting that God gave her this song to help this woman.

"Rescue" is the third single from Look Up Child. It focuses on the depth of God's love for His children.

"I hear you whisper underneath your breath. I hear your SOS, your SOS. I will send out an army to find you. In the middle of the darkest night, I will never stop marching to reach you. In the middle of the hardest fight, it's true, I will rescue you," the lyrics read in part.

Daigle, who is up for several K-Love Fan Awards, is scheduled to perform at the award show this Friday on TBN.
