Christian worship group Maverick City Music announced on Monday that it is suspending its relationship with singer Dante Bowe due to "inconsistent" behavior.
"Due to behavior that is inconsistent with our core values and beliefs, we have decided to put a pause on our professional relationship with Dante Bowe," the group said in a statement. "Decisions like these are not easy because of the level of nuance, both professionally and personally, but we felt it necessary to address."
The group further explained that its members come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
"As such, no one artist's action or behavior can always be attributed as a reflection of our core beliefs and values," the statement added.
"Dante is a brother in Christ, and as such, he has our full commitment and unwavering support as he continues to navigate his path forward. Each of us needs God's grace, and our hope is that we all pray and give him the same opportunity to grow in Christ as we give ourselves," Maverick City Music concluded.
According to CBN News, the worship collective did not specify what led to the pause in their relationship with Bowe. Earlier this month, the singer sparked backlash on social media after posting a video of him singing along to a song titled "Despues De La Playa" ("After the Beach") by rapper and singer Bad Bunny, which contains explicit lyrics.
In the video, which was posted on Instagram, Bowe and his friends, including some Maverick City affiliates, were partying on a bus.
Following the group's announcement, Bowe shared that he is taking a break from social media and making his account private.
"In light of recent events and opinions, I've talked to some of wisest leaders and brothers around me," he wrote on Instagram. "I'll be taking time off social media to rest mentally and physically."
"Years ago, when I dreamt of all I would accomplish one day, I didn't account for the pressure and opinions that would come with it. It's important for everyone to know when to step back and refocus," he added.
Maverick City Music, founded in 2019, has grown in popularity in the worship scene today with their Grammy-winning singles "Jireh" and "Promises," which have 92 million views on YouTube.
