Pastor Matt Chandler Seeks Prayers for Wife’s Healing after Hospitalization

Texas Pastor Matt Chandler of The Village Church in Flower Mound has asked for continued prayers for his wife, Lauren, who recently was hospitalized due to a ‘super high fever and other symptoms.”

“Day 3 in the hospital with the fierce @laurenchandler. Super high fever and other symptoms. Still can’t quite figure out what’s causing it all,” Chandler wrote on Instagram Sunday.

“She has been poked, prodded, and scanned up and down, and the fever persists,” he continued. “Prayers appreciated. Thank you to all our family and friends who have filled in the gaps.”

As reported by Church Leaders, the comments section in Chandler’s post is filled with prayers for Lauren’s healing, including some comments suggesting meningitis and pneumonia as possible reasons for the high fever.

In an update, Chandler said, “The tests have all come back negative and she’s been tested on everything you guys are mentioning in the comments. The doctors are convinced it’s viral, and [she] will start turning the corner soon.”

“The fever has become more manageable and isn’t hitting near as high and her blood pressure is normal again. They were hoping the fever would break and we could wait out the tests that take longer for results at home. Unfortunately, the fever has been persistent. Thanks for the prayers. She is finally getting good sleep, and besides a terrible headache due to the spinal tap, she’s feeling a smidge better!”

Chandler later wrote a second update stating that Lauren’s fever finally broke despite still not knowing what the “original virus was/is.”

“They have ruled out all the scary stuff and most of the autoimmune disorders. Lauren has been battling a brutal headache from the spinal tap, and her platelets are too low for a blood patch, so they gave her some of the good stuff to take the edge off of that.”

He also noted that his wife had developed “double pneumonia” over the past 5 days, for which she has been taking antibiotics.

“She is exhausted and ready to be homebut she has battled so well. I prefer to be the one in the bed as opposed to watching helplessly. Please continue to pray for quick healing and we’d love to go home,” Chandler concluded.

Matt and Lauren Chandler have been married for 25 years and have three children. According to her Instagram bio, Lauren Chandler describes herself as an artist, writer, worship leader, speaker, dreamer, brand ambassador, and podcast co-host. Her books include “Steadfast Love,” “With Us in the Wilderness,” and two children’s titles.
