President-elect Donald Trump announced Thursday that Robert F. Kennedy has been nominated as the next United States Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
"I am thrilled to announce Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS)," Trump wrote on X. "For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health.
"The president-elect contended that "the safety and health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming Health Crisis in this Country," he added.
"Mr. Kennedy will restore these Agencies to the traditions of Gold Standard Scientific Research and beacons of Transparency to end the Chronic Disease epidemic and to Make America Great and Healthy Again!"

Kennedy, who is the nephew of former Democrat president John F. Kennedy, ran as an independent candidate during this presidential election before suspending his bid in August and endorsing Trump.
Kennedy has been outspoken about vaccines, bashing Big Pharma and the food industry. In a Nov. 6 interview, a day after Trump's election victory, he said he wasn't going to "take away" anyone's vaccines, New York Post reports.
"If vaccines are working for somebody, I'm not going to take them away. People ought to have choice, and that choice ought to be informed by the best information," he told NBC News on Nov. 6. "So I'm going to make sure scientific safety studies and efficacy are out there, and people can make individual assessments about whether that product is going to be good for them."
If confirmed as HHS, Kennedy will oversee 80,000 employees, a $1.7 trillion budget, and an extensive network of agencies and subagencies that cover a variety of topics, including nutrition, immigration, and even biodefense research.
"Together, we will clean up corruption, stop the revolving door between industry and government, and return our health agencies to their rich tradition of gold-standard, evidence-based science. I will provide Americans with transparency and access to all the data so they can make informed choices for themselves and their families," Kennedy wrote following Trump's announcement.
"My commitment to the American people is to be an honest public servant. Let's go!"
Thank you @realDonaldTrump for your leadership and courage. I'm committed to advancing your vision to Make America Healthy Again.
