Reza Diako Hints at the 'Chaos' of Season 5's Holy Week in 'The Chosen'

Reza Diako, who stars as the disciple Phillip in the Christian series "The Chosen, recently teased of the "chaos" that is expected to take place during Holy Week in the upcoming 5th season.

"Season 5 was so different," Diako told Collider in a recent interview. "Season 4, for me, is Philip being confronted with his old traumas. He's kind of been in pursuit of a father figure in John the Baptist, so the death of the father has been a bit difficult. But in Season 5, he's like, 'Oh, okay. So I dealt with that pain, and now it's time to celebrate this divine father when we arrive into the city.'"

On the other hand, going into Jerusalem would be short-lived for Phillip as the events of Holy Week would take place.

"But then, unfortunately, things hit the fan, and the table gets turned upside down."

He further explained that season 5 showcases Phillip's struggle with survival amid the intensity of the events.

Diako also spoke of the challenge of portraying Phillip during the season, such as what his character is facing in the midst of adversity.

"He's so confronted with so much chaos, and it's almost too much to digest," Diako said. "He goes into survival mode, and almost reaches up...to John the Baptist in the heavens, and he's like, 'Yo, can you please give me all of your wisdom all at once?'"

As Holy Week is portrayed in The Chosen, Diako stresses the weight and the significance of the storylines taking place.

"Jesus tells him that he's going to die, too, and then, well, let's just wait and find out how he responds," Diako teased.

Phillip's role in The Chosen season 5 will be key to the unfolding drama. As Crosswalk previously reported, Judas's betrayal is also supposed to occur.
