Snoop Dogg to Release New Gospel Album, Altar Call, This Sunday

Rap icon Snoop Dogg is releasing a 21-track gospel album titled Altar Call with Death Row Records this Sunday, which serves as a tribute to his late mother, Beverly Tate.

“April 27, I’m dropping a gospel album. God is good. Won’t he do it?” Snoop said in an Instagram video.

The project features an all-star lineup including Jamie Foxx, Robert Glasper, Jazze Pha, Denaun Porter, October London and more. Tate, whose photo is featured on the album cover wearing a pink hat and blouse holding flowers, passed away in 2021. The album will be released on what would have been her 74th birthday, according to People.

“U taught me how to read and write, how to struggle and fight and all the facts of life. Now you finally got ya wings, mama,” Snoop wrote not long after his mother passed, As reported by Relevant Magazine.

The rap artist told Okayplayer in a recent interview that her presence is highlighted throughout the entire album.

“The spirit of my mother will forever live within me,” he said. “This album is a reflection of what she has taught me—to use my voice and my platform to spread love and heal the world.”

When she passed away in 2021, Snoop’s father first broke news of her death.

"Snoops mom has passed today can all my fans pray for our family we need it more than ever Thanxs,” he said at the said.

Snoop also paid tribute to this mother, by posting a picture of him and her on Instagram. Thank u god for giving me an angel 🕊 for a mother 💖🙏🏽🌹💝 TWMA," the artist wrote.

Snoopy previously released his first gospel album in 2018 titled Bible of Love which contained faith-based tracks featuring legendary artists including Faith Evans and Charlie Wilson. He noted that Altar Call is "another chapter out of the Bible of Love."

He previously released another album titled Missionary Work last December alongside Dr. Dre.
