Tragedy Strikes as Hezbollah’s Pagers Explode, Leaving Thousands of Casualties

New Update: Another round of explosions have been reported Wednesday morning, leaving more than 300 injured and nine killed. According to Lebanon’s state-run news agency, ambulances flood the roads, and hospitals in southern Lebanon are overwhelmed with dozens of casualties.

More than 2,700 people were reportedly injured, and at least 11 people were killed after thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon exploded simultaneously in their hands and pockets on Tuesday without warning. Video footage posted to social media shows the moment the pagers exploded in the terrorist's hands and pockets.

"Hundreds of members of Hezbollah were seriously wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded," wrote Yasher Ali of the Huffington Post and New York Magazine.

"Here is one video of one of the pager explosions."

According to CBN News, Hezbollah blamed Israel for the attack and vowed to take revenge. However, Israel has not claimed credit, and the U.S. says it had no knowledge before the incident occurred.

Hezbollah bought the pagers, which were reportedly manufactured in Hungary after leaders ordered members not to use cell phones in order to avoid being tracked by Israeli intelligence.

"The Israelis likely saw an opportunity, bought up thousands of pagers, took them apart, inserted explosives, and then put them back on the market to sell directly to Hezbollah. And then, using the radio frequencies that normally bring data into that pager, they simultaneously detonated all of the pagers," Retired U.S. Marine Col. Steve Ganyard told ABC News.

The explosions of the devices reportedly took place in Beirut, eastern Lebanon, and parts of Syria at around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, resulting in disruption of Hezbollah's communications and taking thousands of operatives out of action.

As reported by The Daily Wire, the incident comes as Hezbollah has fired thousands of rockets, missiles, and suicide drones at Israel over the last year following Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, where they killed 1,200 people.

On Tuesday, Israel's intelligence services announced they had foiled a plan by Hezbollah to assassinate a former senior Israeli security official using a remotely detonated explosive device that was reportedly supposed to take place in the next several days.
